Elwood advocates apprentices
Elwood urges small businesses to take on apprentices after recent research has shown that there a number of benefits in doing so.
An apprentice is someone who works for an expert to learn a trade. An apprenticeship is the period of time served by the apprentice where they gain experience and develop their skills.
According to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development’s (CIPD) 2011 Learning and Talent Development survey, 35% of small businesses in the UK plan to recruit apprentices this year. Elwood sincerely hopes that you are part of this minority.
By investing your time into apprentices will bring a positive boost to small businesses. We understand your time is precious but taking on an apprentice can help you and your business. Young, talented individuals, with a passion to achieve will bring some bright fresh ideas to your business.
The CIPD survey revealed that 45% of UK businesses have not employed apprentices at all over the past three years, with 68% believing that apprenticeships are inappropriate for their business. Why don’t we make a change together? Whether it is appropriate for your business or not, why don’t you give these people the opportunity?
Apprentices are paid less at just £2.60 per hour. Although everyone wants to earn a living, these apprentices want to gain the experience. They want to be given a chance. Give them a chance!
